Table Beet VALYA

Growing 'Valya' Table Beet: A Practical Perspective

When planning a crop cycle for processing facilities, stability and predictable timing are non-negotiable. The 'Valya' variety from Sedek is a reliable performer in this regard. With a maturity window of 90–100 days, it allows for precise scheduling of harvest operations, ensuring that the roots reach optimal maturity exactly when needed.

Root Characteristics and Handling

The standout feature of 'Valya' is its uniformity. The round shape is a major advantage when working with mechanized cleaning and sorting lines, as it reduces waste and ensures high throughput. Inside, the flesh is deep dark red with no visible light rings, maintaining an excellent appearance even after heavy processing.

• Genetic Consistency: Developed by professional breeders (Dubinin, Lukyanenko), the variety maintains high seed purity, leading to even germination across the entire field.
• Mechanization Readiness: The roots are positioned well in the soil, allowing for easy extraction during mechanical harvesting while keeping damage rates to a minimum.
• Processing Quality: The density of the root tissue is ideal for industrial processing, ensuring structural integrity during cooking and canning.

In the field, 'Valya' is relatively straightforward but responds well to moisture management during the bulb-filling stage. When good agronomic practices are followed, the yield is consistent and reliable. For processors, this variety represents a low-risk, high-efficiency choice for the farm-to-factory supply chain.
