Fodder beet Libero RZ

Reliable Detroit-type performance: growing Libero RC

Working with the Libero RC hybrid from Rijk Zwaan, you immediately notice the predictability of the result. It is a classic Detroit-type, which acts as a reliable tool in the field: minimal demands and straightforward agronomic requirements. For those targeting bunching produce or professional processing, this hybrid has become a standard of efficiency.

Agronomic features and field performance

• Maturity: The growing period is 90-100 days. This allows for precise planning of supply chains, ensuring a steady harvest rather than a one-time peak.
• Root configuration: Perfectly round shape, highly valued for automated washing and packaging. The surface is smooth, which simplifies pre-sale preparation.
• Internal structure: Deep dark red color. There are rings, but they are not coarse, which maintains a high-quality appearance when sliced or processed.

When cultivating Libero RC, it requires the standard care typical for intensive beet varieties. Optimal planting density allows for uniform root caliber, which is critical for downstream processing. The Dutch genetics shine in uniformity: when there is almost no culling in the field, labor costs for sorting are minimal. The roots are easy to pull, with a strong leaf attachment, reducing losses during mechanical harvesting. This makes the hybrid a preferred choice for farms where harvesting speed and output quality are critical factors.
