The 'Sweet Lucky' sweet corn hybrid is the result of dedicated work by domestic breeders, officially registered in the State Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine in 2026. The rights to this hybrid are held by SPARK SEEDS, a company focused on developing planting material highly adapted to the specific climatic conditions of the region.

Morphological Characteristics and Development

According to official UPOV data, 'Sweet Lucky' demonstrates stable growth patterns. The plant reaches an average height, with a key feature being the very low attachment point of the top ear relative to the total stem height, which facilitates mechanical harvesting and improves lodging resistance.

• Leaf Apparatus: The leaves are characterized by an intense green color and pronounced waviness of the margin. The angle between the leaf blade and the stem is large, and the leaf position is strongly drooping, which promotes efficient photosynthesis.
• Flowering and Ear Formation: The hybrid belongs to early-maturing groups. The early emergence of silk and tassel flowering allow the plant to avoid peak summer temperatures, which is critical for maintaining grain sugar content.
• Tassel Structure: The dense arrangement of spikelets and the average number of primary lateral branches ensure high-quality pollination. The absence of significant anthocyanin coloration on all plant parts (from anthers to leaf sheaths) indicates the purity of the genetic line.

'Sweet Lucky' was developed in response to market demand for early, technologically advanced, and predictable sweet corn. Unlike many imported counterparts, this hybrid is better suited to local soil and climatic conditions, minimizing risks during cultivation in the volatile Ukrainian spring.
