Sweet Corn ZHY5022OD

Australian standards for Ukrainian fields

The breeding journey of the JI5022OD hybrid began in Australia, a region where requirements for drought tolerance and adaptability in sweet corn are pushed to the limit. The development of this hybrid was a response to global climate changes, demanding stable yields under conditions of inconsistent moisture.

Path to registration

Official recognition of the hybrid in Ukraine took place in 2026. The state registration process included a series of field trials, during which JI5022OD demonstrated the ability to maintain high organoleptic grain quality even during moisture deficits in critical growth phases. This allowed the variety to secure a niche in the premium sweet corn segment, targeting both the fresh market and the processing industry.

Technological profile

• Origin: Australian breeding school focused on intensive agriculture.
• Status: Registered in the State Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine in 2026.
• Adaptability: High yield potential across various soil and climatic zones of the country, confirmed by variety trial results.

Among its peers, JI5022OD stands out for its cob uniformity and consistently high sugar content, making it a competitive solution for farmers aiming to minimize risks when growing sweet corn during the Ukrainian summer.
