Sweet Corn B672

Agronomic Guidelines for B672 Hybrid Cultivation

The B672 sweet corn hybrid, introduced by Crookham Company in 2024, is a high-performance F1 variety requiring precise management to achieve its genetic yield potential. Success with this hybrid depends heavily on soil temperature at planting and moisture management during reproductive stages.

Planting Strategy

Sowing should be delayed until soil temperatures reach at least +12°C to ensure uniform emergence. The recommended plant population is 55,000 to 65,000 plants per hectare, depending on irrigation capacity. Row spacing of 70 cm is standard to facilitate mechanical operations and ensure optimal light penetration.

Soil and Nutrient Management

B672 thrives in well-drained, fertile soils with a pH range of 6.0–7.0. Nitrogen management is key: apply the bulk of nitrogen pre-plant, followed by a side-dress application at the V5–V7 growth stage. Avoid soil compaction, as this hybrid requires excellent root zone aeration for efficient nutrient uptake.

Irrigation and Crop Care

Water management is critical from the pre-tasseling stage through the milk stage of kernel development. Moisture stress during this window will directly impact ear fill and overall quality. Weed control must be prioritized early in the season; B672 is sensitive to early-stage competition, so keeping the field clean until the canopy closes is essential for maximizing yield.
