White sweetclover «Belogor» is a late-maturing variety of sweetclover (Melilotus albus Medik.), primarily intended for the production of green mass. The plant is characterized by medium height and a semi-upright growth habit, which ensures good seeding plate density and ease of processing.
The leaves of the variety have a medium intensity of green color, while the stems are of medium length and width. Flowering is delayed, which allows avoiding competition with main field crops and ensures a longer period of biomass accumulation. According to the results of state variety trials, green mass yield is 291.9 kg/ha, while dry matter content reaches 21.4%.
«Belogor» not only effectively serves as a green manure crop and improves soil structure, but is also an excellent honey plant. Due to high reserves of polyphenols and essential oils, the plant attracts bees, increasing hive productivity in early spring. The variety is suitable for cultivation in all regions of the country where it has been approved for use.
