Common sunflower Mas 97.A

French Breeding for High Oil Content

The Mas 97.A sunflower hybrid by Maisadour Semences is the choice for farmers who prioritize not just total yield, but also high oil content (up to 55%). In unstable climatic conditions, this simple hybrid demonstrates remarkable stability, turning a 120–130 day growing season into a quality harvest with excellent grain weight.

A Biological Shield for Your Crops

The key differentiator of Mas 97.A compared to many competitors is its comprehensive resistance to pathogens. Maisadour’s breeding program focuses on developing a powerful immune system against the most dangerous threats to sunflower crops:

• Sclerotinia and White Mold: The hybrid successfully resists head rot, which is critical in regions with high humidity.
• Phoma and Phomopsis: High tolerance to these diseases keeps the foliage healthy until harvest, ensuring proper seed filling.
• Broomrape (Orobanche): Genetic resistance allows this hybrid to be used in fields where the parasite remains a persistent challenge.

Agronomic Features and Recommendations

Visually, Mas 97.A seeds are easily recognized by their distinct narrow-ovoid shape and deep black color. The large, convex head distributes weight effectively, and the maturity period allows the hybrid to rationally utilize soil moisture.

Who is Mas 97.A for? Primarily for farmers working in areas with moderate disease pressure who strive for premium-quality raw material. Thanks to its high oil yield, this hybrid is a frequent favorite for processing plants. However, it is important to note that to unlock the 50–55% oil potential, the crops require careful weed control and proper mineral fertilization, as the hybrid's intensive development type thrives on a good agronomic background.
