Common sunflower MEGASUN

French breeding for stable yields

The «Megasan» sunflower hybrid from Limagrain is a well-known solution among growers, firmly established in the segment of classic mid-season crops. French breeding excellence is evident here through the plant's robust «immune shield»: the hybrid demonstrates excellent resistance to a complex of pathogens that threaten crops annually across various regions.

Phytosanitary barrier

The core value of «Megasan» lies in its comprehensive resistance profile. In conditions of high humidity and high disease pressure, it shows exceptional tolerance to key rots: white rot (head and root forms), charcoal rot, as well as Phomopsis and Phoma. This makes it a predictable tool for farms aiming to minimize the risks of yield loss due to infections.

Agronomic overview

• Growing period: 110–120 days. It fits optimally into standard crop rotation schedules.
• Plant dimensions: The height of 130–140 cm ensures convenience during mechanized harvesting, reducing the risk of lodging.
• Head: Medium-sized and well-filled, contributing to uniform ripening of the achenes.
• Broomrape (Orobanche): Genetic resistance allows the crop to be grown in fields infested with this parasitic plant.

«Megasan's» reputation is built on its plasticity. It is a classic hybrid that does not require highly specialized cultivation technologies, making it a reliable «workhorse» for most operations. High tolerance to downy mildew further strengthens its position as one of the most reliable Limagrain tools for protecting yield potential during early development stages.
