Growing Practice: The Solnechniy Luch Hybrid

When you bring this hybrid to the field, you immediately sense the predictability of the breeding work from the Institute of Oilseed Crops of NAAS. This is not some fickle exotic import requiring laboratory conditions, but a workhorse adapted to the realities of Ukrainian chernozem.

Field Operation and Development

During the growing season, Solnechniy Luch remains stable. The stalk is robust, and lodging is a rare exception, even if the crops are hit by storm winds in the second half of summer. For a combine operator, this means a clean cut and minimal harvest losses. The head matures evenly, which is critical for logistics: there is no need to wait for the edges to ripen when the center is already overdried. This is a direct saving on drying costs, as the grain comes out with optimal moisture levels.

Economy and Maintenance

• Input efficiency: The sowing rates are standard; the hybrid does not require high-density planting, which allows for savings on seed costs without compromising the stand.
• Resilience: The hybrid stands firm against major diseases (downy mildew, phoma), allowing you to optimize fungicide applications without risking critical damage.
• Harvesting comfort: The uniform height of the heads allows you to set the header once for the entire field and operate without constant adjustments to angle or speed.

In short: it is a tool for those who want a predictable harvest with minimal risks at every stage — from seed placement to bunker unloading.
