Sunflower PS 619

Working with the PS 619 sunflower hybrid

When selecting seeds, every farmer looks for a balance between yield potential and ease of field management. It is not the type of crop that requires overly complex management to achieve decent results.

Field performance and resilience

In real-world operation, the PS 619 shows a confident start. At the emergence stage, it displays strong vigor, which is critical if spring weather is erratic or soil temperatures are inconsistent. The root system develops deeply enough to sustain the plant through mid-summer droughts, which are common in many regions.

• Uniform maturation: The hybrid stands out for its even crop maturity. At harvest time, this eases the pressure on the combine harvester, as the moisture level of the heads remains consistent across the field.
• Technology-friendly: Managing this sunflower does not require exotic techniques or specialized protocols. It responds well to standard herbicide and fungicide applications, fitting seamlessly into conventional farming schedules.
• Seed development: During the grain-filling stage, the PS 619 forms a heavy, well-developed head. Crucially, it shows excellent stalk strength, preventing lodging even under strong wind conditions.

Operational maintenance

For an operator, the main advantage of this hybrid is its consistent development. Developed by breeders Vitaly Grigoryan and Marianna Sharygina, this is a workhorse created by Ooo Aktiv Agro specifically for farmers who prioritize economic efficiency and reliable volume. Harvesting is straightforward with minimal seed shattering, offering flexibility in timing the field operations.
