Sunflower Sapphire

Focus on Phytosanitary Reliability

Selecting the 'Sapphire' sunflower hybrid means prioritizing risk mitigation in fields prone to soil-borne pathogens. Developed by the Plant Breeding and Genetics Institute (PBGI), this hybrid is specifically tailored for farms dealing with high infection pressure in their crop rotation cycles.

Technical Advantages

The core strength of 'Sapphire' lies in its robust resistance profile. Unlike standard hybrids, it is highly resilient against root rot and fusarium, making it a dependable choice for high-intensity farming operations. With a plant height of 190-200 cm, the hybrid ensures uniform growth, facilitating standard agronomical operations such as mechanical weeding and top-dressing without damaging the crops.

Operational Scenarios

• High-Risk Soils: Thanks to its genetic resistance to fusarium and various rots, it excels in fields where soil pathogens often force heavy reliance on fungicides.
• Integrated Pest Management: Resistance to the European corn borer allows for a more streamlined approach to pest control, especially in farms practicing crop rotation between sunflowers and maize.
• Growth Management: The plant height of 190-200 cm is perfectly suited for modern machinery, allowing for precise late-season applications of micro-nutrients.

'Sapphire' is designed for agronomists who prioritize predictability. It offers a clear advantage in maintaining a healthy crop stand while minimizing overhead costs associated with intensive chemical protection programs.
