Sunflower Korund is a tall hybrid with a plant height of about 240-260 cm and a head attachment height of 100-110 cm. The cylindrical head, 21-22 cm long, contains 16 rows of seeds with a red stem. The seeds are yellow-orange, toothed, and weigh 300-310 g per 1000 seeds. The hybrid does not branch and has a high seed yield — 82-83%.
Korund is characterized by intensive water shedding and good resistance to various adverse factors, including lodging, drought, heat, as well as diseases such as powdery mildew, downy mildew, and fusarium. Due to these qualities, the hybrid is well adapted to cultivation in various climatic zones, including Steppe, Forest-Steppe, and Polесье.
The potential yield of sunflower Korund is 10.0-12.0 t/ha. The recommended pre-harvest plant density varies depending on the cultivation zone: 50-55 thousand plants/ha in Steppe, 80-85 thousand plants/ha in Forest-Steppe, and 85-90 thousand plants/ha in Polесье. The hybrid is relatively early maturing, with rapid initial development and effective seed drying, making it attractive for agricultural production.
