Selyanin

Sunflower variety Selyanin is a high-tech, simple inter-row hybrid of intensive type, intended for cultivation in the Steppe and Forest-Steppe zones of Ukraine. It is distinguished by a unique combination of drought resistance, heat tolerance, and high adaptability to the soil-climatic conditions of the region. The vegetation period is 110-115 days, making it a medium-maturing variety with uniform and synchronized flowering and ripening. Plants are uniform in height and have weak lodging during standstill, which facilitates harvesting and reduces yield losses. Selyanin is characterized by high genetic yield potential, reaching 3.8-4.3 tons per hectare, with seed oil content of 52-53% and oil content of 21-23%. Oil yield per hectare may range from 1.7 to 2.0 tons. Due to the low height of the plants, nutrient loss from the soil with plant residues is reduced, positively affecting soil fertility preservation. The hybrid is resistant to major diseases, including race A-E of downy mildew and false powdery mildew, ensuring stable yields even under adverse conditions. Sunflower Selyanin is suitable for intensive cultivation technologies due to its high initial growth rate, allowing effective competition with weeds and ensuring maximum efficiency of agronomic measures. It is tolerant to sowing density and resistant to lodging. Recommended plant stand density is 55-60 thousand per hectare in zones with sufficient moisture and 50-55 thousand per hectare in areas with insufficient moisture. High profitability of production and adaptability to Ukrainian conditions make this hybrid a profitable choice for commercial plantings.
