Sunflower Bright

A Benchmark of Ukrainian Breeding for Stable Yields

The «Yaskravyi» sunflower is a product of long-term development by breeders at the V. Ya. Yuriev Institute of Plant Production of the NAAS. This variety fills the niche for farmers who prioritize proven genetics and adaptability to local climatic conditions. Unlike high-intensity foreign hybrids, this variety demonstrates remarkable resilience to environmental stressors typical of the steppe and forest-steppe zones of Ukraine.

Agronomic Profile

The plant reaches a height of 190–200 cm, providing robust vegetative mass and effective weed suppression during early growth stages. Due to its biological architecture, «Yaskravyi» efficiently utilizes available soil moisture, a critical advantage during seasons with low rainfall. As a variety rather than an F1 hybrid, it allows farmers to maintain their own seed stock, significantly reducing production costs compared to annual hybrid purchases.

Market Reputation

In the sunflower market, «Yaskravyi» has established itself as a reliable "workhorse." It does not chase extreme yields driven by heavy chemical inputs; instead, it focuses on consistent performance with moderate fertilizer and pesticide requirements. It exhibits high tolerance to common soil-borne pathogens in Ukraine, which helps in optimizing fungicidal crop protection programs.
