The sunflower variety Djain is a mid-season confectionery variety with a vegetation period of about 89-90 days. Plants reach a height of 190-200 centimeters, which ensures good development and formation of large seeds. The mass of 1000 seeds varies from 110 to 150 grams at the recommended density of 28-30 thousand plants per hectare. The variety is characterized by uniformity in height, flowering, and ripening, which facilitates agricultural activities and harvest collection.
Djein sunflower seeds have high confectionery qualities and contain up to 42% oil, making them in demand for both food and oilseed use. Seed yield reaches 3.4-3.7 tons per hectare, confirming the high productivity of the variety. Moreover, seeds have good taste qualities, which is an important factor for the confectionery industry.
The Djain variety has high resistance to major sunflower diseases, such as downy mildew, phoma, fusarium, and verticillium wilt (ergot), including six aggressive strains of this parasite. Thanks to its genetics and adaptability, it is successfully grown in various climate zones, including Ukraine's Polesie, Forest-steppe, and Steppe. Leaf treatment with microelements, humates, and growth regulators is recommended to reduce stress factors and improve plant formation, which contributes to a stable and high yield.
