SA 578 R is a medium-early hybrid sunflower of intensive type, intended for cultivation under the herbicide Granstar (Express Sun, Sumo). It was developed through selection of the most productive biotypes and is characterized by uniform flowering and ripening. The vegetative period of the hybrid is approximately 108-115 days, allowing for a stable yield under various climatic conditions. The yield potential reaches 43.7-55 c/ha, and oil content in seeds varies from 49 to 52%, making this hybrid attractive for high-quality oil production.
The SA 578 R hybrid exhibits high resistance to major sunflower diseases, including rust (resistant to races A-G+), false powdery mildew, fomopsis, fusarium, and dry rot. This ensures yield reliability and stability even under adverse weather conditions and presence of pathogens in the soil. Seeds have high germination and are treated with fungicide for additional protection during early growth stages.
Plants are characterized by strong stems, height of about 160-170 cm, and well-developed root systems, contributing to resistance to lodging and efficient nutrient utilization. The sunflower head is thin, convex, semi-downward, with a diameter of 21-25 cm, black seeds of elongated shape, with a 1000-seed mass of about 70-75 g. The hybrid is suitable for cultivation across all of Ukraine, ensuring high productivity and quality of oilseed products.
