Sunflower NS H 498 — this is a mid-season hybrid of Serbian selection, intended for cultivation in forest-steppe and steppe zones. The vegetation period is 108-113 days, which allows the hybrid to successfully adapt to the climatic conditions of these regions. Plants reach a height of 140-160 cm, have medium stem thickness, and form convex heads with a diameter of 21-25 cm. Seeds are elongated, the mass of 1000 seeds ranges from 60 to 70 grams, and oil content reaches 48-50%. Hybrid NS H 498 is characterized by high yield — over 45 centners per hectare when agronomic recommendations are followed. It has a strong and branched root system, which ensures efficient use of soil moisture and high drought resistance. Plants are resistant to lodging and shattering, which contributes to maintaining yield and improving its quality. In addition, the hybrid is tolerant to sulfonylurea herbicides, which facilitates weed control during cultivation. NS H 498 demonstrates high resistance to major sunflower diseases, including Phomopsis, Phomopsis, gray mold, Septoria, and sunflower moth. It also has immunity to six strains of downy mildew, significantly reducing the risk of yield losses. The recommended planting density is 50-55 thousand plants per hectare in steppe zones and 55-60 thousand in forest-steppe zones. All these characteristics make NS H 498 a reliable and productive choice for modern sunflower cultivation technologies.
