MAS 89 IR is a medium-early linoleic-type sunflower hybrid with a vegetation period from germination to harvest onset of 113–118 days. Plants are of medium height with strong stems and slightly hairy leaves, forming a medium-sized, downward-leaning convex head. Yellow flowers open at medium-early stages, promoting good head filling. Seeds are black with dull stripes on the sides, having a thousand-seed weight of 56–62 g and containing 49–53% high-quality oil, making the hybrid highly profitable.
MAS 89 IR hybrid exhibits high resistance to lodging and drought, as well as tolerance to major sunflower diseases such as false powdery mildew, Phomopsis, and head and stem sclerotinia. Plants show healthy and vigorous seedlings with high growth energy, rapidly developing in early stages and maintaining excellent phytosanitary condition throughout the vegetation period. Thanks to these qualities, the hybrid adapts well to extensive and stressful growing conditions.
The MAS 89 IR cultivation technology is Clearfield, enabling effective weed control and increased yield. The hybrid is recommended for cultivation in various agroclimatic zones, including forest-steppe, steppe, and Polесье. Its medium-early maturity and high productivity make MAS 89 IR the optimal choice for maximizing sunflower yield with high oil content.
