Sunflower Euro

Working with the Euro hybrid

When working with the 'Euro' hybrid from VNIS, you immediately appreciate its predictability in the field. As a simple hybrid, it behaves stably during the entire growth cycle: uniform germination and synchronized ripening allow for stress-free harvest planning. The plant height of 160–170 cm is ideal for combine harvesting; the stalks remain upright, reducing harvest losses, and the header handles the biomass efficiently without overload.

Crop Protection and Management

The key feature that simplifies an agronomist's work is its resistance to imidazolinone herbicides (Clearfield/Euro-Lighting system). This is a lifesaver for tackling problematic weeds and broomrape. Based on personal observation, the hybrid handles herbicide application well without growth stagnation. In terms of phytosanitary status, 'Euro' is a robust performer: throughout the season, it effectively resists white and grey rot, downy mildew, phomopsis, phoma, and powdery mildew. With proper crop rotation, fungicide requirements are minimal, saving significantly on production costs per hectare.

Yield and Logistics

A vegetation period of 110–120 days ensures a clear harvesting schedule, even under unstable weather conditions. An oil content of 45–50% is a solid metric that elevators appreciate. When delivering the crop, you don't have to worry about quality downgrades. 'Euro' is the kind of hybrid that justifies the investment by delivering consistent results without unpleasant surprises during the growing season.
