Sunflower MAS 89IR is a medium-early linoleic-type hybrid with a vegetation period from seed germination to harvest onset, approximately 109-118 days. Plants of this hybrid have medium-low height and a sturdy stem structure, ensuring resistance to lodging. Leaves are slightly peltate and well-veined, and the stem is moderately hairy, especially in the upper part. The medium-sized, convex, downward-sloping head blooms in mid-early stages with yellow flowers, contributing to the formation of well-filled black seeds with dull stripes on the sides. MAS 89IR stands out for its high oil content in seeds — from 49 to 53% — making it attractive for producing high-quality sunflower oil. The thousand-seed weight ranges from 56 to 62 grams. The hybrid demonstrates high growth energy and uniform germination, as well as excellent phytosanitary condition throughout the vegetation period. It is resistant to major pathogenic diseases such as downy mildew, phomopsis, and head sclerotinia, as well as pests, reducing the need for intensive plant protection. A key feature of MAS 89IR is its high drought tolerance and ability to adapt to extensive and stressful growing conditions, including adverse weather factors. The hybrid is characterized by good lodging resistance and moderate seed moisture loss at the end of the vegetation period. Thanks to these qualities, MAS 89IR ensures stable and high yields, making it a profitable choice for farmers aiming to obtain quality and profitable sunflower harvests.
