Sunflower Latino

Ensuring Consistent Yields with Limagrain Latino

When selecting sunflower seeds for fields burdened with weeds and parasites, the focus must be on technical efficiency. The Latino hybrid from the French brand Limagrain has proven itself as a reliable asset in the Clearfield production system. Its core advantage is resistance to the Euro-Lightning herbicide, allowing for total weed control in a single pass without compromising the crop’s development.

Agronomic Potential and Field Performance

With a plant height of 150–160 cm, this hybrid is well-suited for efficient harvesting—it shows no signs of lodging, allowing the combine to operate at optimal speeds while minimizing header losses. Throughout the growing season, Latino demonstrates robust resistance to major diseases, which is critical in high-humidity conditions:

• Full immunity to primary races of downy mildew (Peronospora).
• High tolerance thresholds for phomopsis and phoma.
• Strong defense against sclerotinia, ensuring healthy, well-filled heads until harvest time.

An oil content of 45–50% is a consistent result that translates directly into profitability at the grain elevator. From an operational perspective, this hybrid requires no complex specialized farming techniques; a standard nutrient management plan is sufficient to achieve the targeted yields.

Practical Insights for Growers

For agronomists, Latino offers peace of mind through consistency. You can rely on this sunflower to remain upright and resistant to fungal pressures, regardless of seasonal weather fluctuations. The integration of the Clearfield system eliminates the need for repeated mechanical weeding, significantly lowering production costs per ton. This is a dependable French-bred product that delivers value on every hectare.
