Latino sunflower is a versatile crop widely used in the food industry, pharmaceuticals, as animal feed, ecological fuel, and technical raw materials. The seeds of this sunflower variety belong to the oilseed types, containing approximately 47-48% oil, the quality of which is determined by the fatty acid composition. The plant is classified according to vegetation periods and oil types, enabling selection of the optimal variety for various climatic conditions and cultivation purposes.
The Latino hybrid boasts high yield potential, reaching 42-48 centners per hectare, and is adapted for cultivation in steppe, forest-steppe, and Polissia regions. Plants grow to a height of 155-175 cm, with a recommended planting density of 55-60 thousand plants per hectare. The seeds exhibit tolerance to herbicides in the imidazolinone group, ensuring effective weed control and promoting healthy crops.
Special attention has been paid to the resistance of the Latino hybrid to flax rust — a parasitic plant that significantly reduces sunflower yield. Hybrids resistant to flax rust have been developed considering the parasite's constant mutations and provide protection against multiple strains of this pest. Latino offers high resistance, minimizing yield losses and maintaining stable production. For maximum efficiency, it is recommended to renew the seed material annually to avoid infection by new parasite strains.
