Sunflower ES Fortem

Practical insights on "ES Fortem" cultivation

When planning a sunflower season, predictability is the most valuable currency for a grower. The 100-110 day vegetation period allows for a well-organized harvest schedule, and the plant height of 170-180 cm fits perfectly with the settings of most modern headers, avoiding the need for constant adjustments.

Protection and field management

The main advantage for the operator is the hybrid's resistance to EURO-LIGHTNING herbicides. Implementing a Clearfield-based weed control system significantly simplifies the season, especially when weather conditions make timely field access difficult. In terms of disease resistance, this hybrid acts as a reliable performer: it shows consistent resistance against white rot, downy mildew, phomopsis, and phoma. This effectively reduces the budget allocated for fungicide applications, which is a critical factor in today's market.

Yield and quality

The stated oil content of 45-50% is consistently achieved in the field, as confirmed by post-harvest testing. Given its Ukrainian origin, the hybrid is well-adapted to local soil and climate conditions, showing stability despite temperature fluctuations. For combine operators, the hybrid is convenient: uniform ripening eliminates "patchy" fields during harvest, and stable plant height allows for consistent travel speeds. In short, it is a balanced tool for farmers seeking a reliable, high-oil crop with optimized input requirements.
