The hybrid sunflower BAYTEREK S was developed by Kazakh breeders of the LLC 'Experimental Farm of Oil Crops' using interline hybridization with cytoplasmic male sterility and a fertility restorer pollen line. The parental lines of the hybrid are Cleo 123 A and SP 1459 B. This early-maturing variety is characterized by plant height of about 151 cm and semi-downward-facing medium-sized flower heads with narrowly egg-shaped, black seeds without spotting and weakly expressed gray marginal stripes.
BAYTEREK S stands out for its high yield and quality parameters. In the East Kazakhstan region, the average yield is 26.9 centners per hectare, slightly exceeding standard indicators. The 1000-seed mass reaches 72.8 g, and the oil content in the seeds is 42.1%, which is higher than the standard level. The oil yield per hectare reaches nearly 997 kg, which is 3.8% higher compared to standard varieties. The hybrid is resistant to drought and lodging, confirmed by a maximum rating of 5 points, and also exhibits good disease resistance.
The seeds of the hybrid BAYTEREK S are intended for cultivation under agronomic conditions with minimal care requirements. It is recommended for cultivation in the West Kazakhstan and East Kazakhstan regions, where it demonstrates stable yield and quality performance.
