The Arsenal OR sunflower hybrid is a simple interline hybrid developed within a selection-genetic program aimed at enhancing resistance to downy mildew, particularly race G. It belongs to the mid-early maturity group with a vegetation period of approximately 97 days, allowing effective utilization in various climatic conditions. The paternal line of the hybrid is homozygous for the dominant Or7 gene, providing stable resistance to downy mildew and other diseases.
Arsenal OR stands out for its high yield — up to 3.97 tons per hectare — and high oil content in seeds, reaching 46.8%. Plants have a medium height of about 175 cm and a robust, branched root system capable of extracting moisture from depths up to 3 meters, which contributes to the hybrid’s adaptability to various soil types and climatic conditions. The sunflower head is large, up to 25 cm in diameter, fully filled with seeds of thin and convex shape.
The hybrid exhibits high resistance to a complex of diseases, including false powdery mildew, fomopsis, peronosporosis, white and gray rot, as well as four races of downy mildew. Thanks to its low maintenance requirements and ease of seed processing, Arsenal OR is a reliable choice for farmers seeking high-quality sunflower yields with good oil content.
