Sunflower Basik is a classic 7-row hybrid developed by Russian breeders. It is a mid-season variety with a vegetation period of 102-105 days and an average plant height of 160-170 cm. Plants have strong stems and green leaves, with large, flat, slightly tilted heads of average shape. Seeds are oval-shaped, black, with no or very faint stripes along the edges. The 1000-seed weight is 58.1 g.
The hybrid is characterized by high productivity and oil content, ranging from 46% to 53%, ensuring high seed yields — an average of 35.9 centners per hectare, with potential up to 47.0 centners per hectare under favorable conditions. Oil harvest reaches 14.3 centners per hectare. The optimal planting density is 60-65 thousand plants per hectare. Sunflower Basik is resistant to lodging, which facilitates harvest.
The variety exhibits high resistance to major diseases, including rust, dry rot, downy mildew A-G, frogeye leaf spot, peronosporosis, as well as white and gray rot. Additionally, it is drought-tolerant and pest-resistant, making it a reliable choice for various climatic conditions. Sunflower Basik is widely used for oil production, as well as in culinary applications, such as breading for meat patties.
