Fodder beet VIKTOR

Why Viktor by Strube has become a benchmark for sugar beet

In intensive farming, where pathogens dictate the rules, choosing a sugar beet hybrid becomes a strategic task. The German hybrid "Viktor" from the breeding house Strube is a balanced solution for farms seeking stability in areas at risk of rhizomania and cercospora.

Agronomic profile and resistance

The main advantage of "Viktor" lies in its categorization as an NZ-type (normal sugar content). This represents the "golden mean," providing a decent sugar yield combined with high root weight. While many hybrids lose their potential during fungal disease outbreaks, "Viktor" demonstrates enviable tolerance. Its genetic architecture is specifically designed to resist rhizomania—the scourge of modern beet fields—and its marked resistance to cercospora allows for a reduction in fungicide applications, which is critical for production cost management.

Who is this hybrid for?

• For growers whose fields are at risk of viral rhizomania.
• For farms aiming for high total sugar output per hectare.
• For farmers focused on technological efficiency: the variety performs excellently under classical protection schemes and responds consistently to fertilizers.

The strengths of "Viktor" are crop uniformity and high-quality root shape, which significantly simplify the harvesting and cleaning process at processing plants. A weakness to consider is its demand for micronutrient availability during early growth stages. If you provide it with a proper start, the hybrid will reward you with the high yields for which German Strube breeding is renowned.
