Sugar beet Hilena

Stable yields under high infection pressure

The sugar beet hybrid "Hilena" by Syngenta is a go-to solution for agronomists managing plots with significant pathogen history. As a sugar-type (Z) hybrid, it offers exceptional resistance to the complex of diseases that typically erode crop profitability.

Practical application scenarios

• Soil-borne disease management: Thanks to its robust genetic resistance against rhizomania and Aphanomyces root rot, "Hilena" performs reliably in fields with high pathogen levels. This makes it an ideal choice for farms with limited crop rotation where root rot risks remain a critical limiting factor.
• Foliar protection: High tolerance to Cercospora leaf spot and powdery mildew allows for better optimization of fungicide spray programs. You can base your spraying schedules on actual pest thresholds rather than reactive, emergency measures, significantly reducing cost-per-hectare.
• Logistics and harvest: The large roots of this hybrid are perfectly suited for mechanical harvesting. High sugar content combined with excellent soil detachment properties during lifting simplifies operations for combine operators and minimizes post-harvest handling losses.

"Hilena" by Syngenta is more than just seed; it is a risk management tool. By choosing this hybrid, agronomists shift from a strategy of constant damage control to one of consistent high sugar output, maintaining productivity even in years with challenging phytosanitary conditions.
