Sugar beet FD13SC002

French breeding in the field: working with FD13SC002

When selecting sugar beet hybrids, reliability is the key factor, and the FD13SC002 hybrid from Florimond-Desprez Veuve et Fils brings exactly that level of quality to the farm. Having worked with this material, the focus is clearly on its technological advantage and performance consistency.

Root geometry and harvesting efficiency

The oval-conical shape of the root is a major benefit during mechanical harvesting. This specific geometry ensures minimal losses during extraction and significantly reduces soil contamination in the harvester's hopper. For an operator, this means less stress on the machinery and a cleaner load, which simplifies logistics and processing once the crop reaches the sugar plant.

Stability and field performance

Florimond-Desprez breeding lines are known for their adaptability. The FD13SC002 exhibits uniform emergence, which is essential for consistent crop development. Compared to less stable hybrids, this one stands out for its structural uniformity, making the setup of inter-row cultivators and sprayers a straightforward process without the need for constant adjustments.

• Oval-conical root shape minimizes mechanical damage during harvest.
• High level of uniformity makes field monitoring and care much easier.
• Reliable response to standard protection programs recommended by the breeder.

For an agronomist, choosing FD13SC002 means opting for a predictable growth cycle. It doesn't require overly complex schemes if the breeder's guidelines are followed, making the entire season from planting to delivery both efficient and manageable. This is an investment in a smooth harvesting process and high-quality yield.
