Description Sara
Sugar beet of the Sara variety is a single-stemmed diploid hybrid on a sterile basis, registered for cultivation in the North Caucasus region, particularly recommended for Rostov Oblast. This variety is characterized by high root yield, averaging 384 centners per hectare, with sugar content in roots at 17.9%. In terms of yield and sugar content, the Sara variety surpasses the Kuban MS 74 standard, showing an increase in yield by 82 centners per hectare and an increase in sugar content by 0.6%, resulting in a sugar harvest of 68.9 centners per hectare, which is 16.7 centners more than the standard. The Sara variety demonstrates resistance to certain pests and diseases in various regions. In the Volga region, root-eating pests are weakly damaging, in the North Caucasus region, cercosporosis is weakly damaging, but in the Central Chernozem region, powdery mildew and root-eating pests are severely damaging. These data are important for selecting cultivation regions and implementing appropriate agronomic measures for crop protection. Sugar beet is a key sugar-producing crop in the temperate zone and is used not only for sugar production but also as a forage crop. In 100 kg of roots, there are 25 feed units and 1.2 kg of digestible protein, while the tops provide an additional 20 feed units and 2.2 kg of digestible protein. This makes the Sara variety universal and profitable for agricultural production, combining high sugar content and forage value.
