MS 839

Stable performance under challenging conditions

When working with sugar beet, phytopathology is always the main concern. My experience with the MS 839 hybrid from the Belgian company Sesvanderhave Nv/Sa shows that this choice is all about hedging against seasonal unpredictability. The hybrid belongs to the sugar type (Z), which is critical because it consistently yields 17–18% sugar content. These are the figures that translate directly into profitability.

Agronomic reliability and protection

What an agronomist truly appreciates in the field is the hybrid's immunity. MS 839 is a diploid hybrid that has proven its resilience against a complex of diseases. You don’t have to run the sprayer after every rain trying to save the foliage. Resistance to powdery mildew, cercospora, and ramularia allows the leaves to stay green until harvest, which directly affects root weight and sugar accumulation.

• Agro-technical ease: the hybrid is predictable in its development, which makes planning for crop protection and fertilization much easier.
• Sugar logistics: with proper management, the sugar output is consistently high, making MS 839 a favorite in regions with high disease pressure.

Regarding operations, it is worth noting the uniformity of the roots. During harvesting with combines, this leads to minimal losses and efficient machine operation.
