Sugar beet KURSKHYBRID MS

Working with the Kursky MS sugar beet hybrid

When it comes to sugar beet farming, managing phytosanitary issues is the biggest challenge for any operator. The Kursky MS hybrid, developed by the All-Russian Research Institute of Sugar Beet and Sugar named after A.L. Mazlumov, stands out due to its inherent resilience. This hybrid is a reliable choice for those looking to balance high output with effective disease resistance.

Phytosanitary protection and field performance

The standout feature of this hybrid is its robust genetic resistance to key crop threats. It shows excellent performance against cercospora, powdery mildew, and various rots. Its resilience against damping-off (root rot) is particularly beneficial during the early stages, ensuring a uniform crop stand even when spring weather is unpredictable. For an agronomist, this means fewer fungicide applications and lower overall protection costs.

Yield and quality indicators

Kursky MS produces medium-sized, uniform roots that consistently achieve a sugar content of 18–19%. This high sucrose level makes the crop highly attractive to processing plants. In terms of harvesting, the physical characteristics of the roots are ideal for mechanized harvesting. The roots are uniform in shape, which minimizes machine damage and reduces post-harvest losses, making the entire logistics chain more efficient.

Economics and maintenance

Working with this hybrid simplifies seasonal planning. Because the plants are less prone to disease outbreaks, you avoid the need for emergency chemical interventions. This provides a stable and predictable cultivation cycle. If you are looking for a reliable hybrid that performs well without requiring excessive specialized care, Kursky MS is a solid investment in your rotation program.
