NS HI 1

NS HI 1 — a classic diploid hybrid of sugar beet, oriented towards high yield and increased sugar content. This variety is genetically distinguished by an elevated sugar content reaching 18.3%, making it attractive for sugar production. The roots have an oval-conical shape and are buried in the soil by approximately 85%, which contributes to their good development and quality. The leaf rosette is of medium size, dark green, and spreading, which ensures optimal photosynthetic coverage.

The NS HI 1 hybrid is resistant to a number of diseases, including aphano-mycetous root rot, cercosporosis, rhizomania, and powdery mildew, and also possesses resistance to drought and cooling. Thanks to these characteristics, the variety demonstrates high root yield — up to 87.5 tons per hectare, which makes it profitable for cultivation in various climatic zones of Ukraine, including Polesie, forest-steppe, and steppe. The recommended sowing density is 100–115 thousand plants per hectare, and the optimal sowing times are early.

Additionally, sugar beet NS HI 1 can be used not only for sugar production but also as a feed crop. In 100 kg of roots, there is a significant amount of feed units and digestible protein, which makes this variety useful for animal husbandry. The variety is also characterized by good storability and is suitable for medium-term harvesting, which facilitates its storage and further processing.
