Sugar beet Giovanna

German genetics for maximum yield

The «Giovanna» sugar beet hybrid from KWS represents the pinnacle of German breeding, specifically designed to be a high-yielding (E-type) hybrid. On the current market, it serves as a robust solution for growers who prioritize consistent tonnage and reliable performance across varying field conditions.

Agronomic profile and disease resistance

The standout feature of Giovanna is its impressive resistance profile. KWS has optimized this hybrid to combat the most devastating sugar beet pathogens. With high tolerance to rhizomania and cercospora, along with strong resistance to powdery mildew and aphanomyces root rot, Giovanna offers growers a safety net against common yield-robbing diseases. This level of protection is essential for maintaining crop integrity in regions prone to high infection pressure.

Morphology and harvesting efficiency

As a diploid hybrid, Giovanna exhibits excellent uniformity in plant stand. The oval-conical root shape and medium size are standardized for easy handling by modern harvesting machinery. This consistency ensures minimal loss during the harvest process and allows for efficient processing. By focusing on the E-type yield potential, Giovanna remains a preferred choice for commercial farms that require a balance between volume and genetic reliability.
