Sugar beet is one of the key agricultural crops grown extensively across Ukraine. For successful seed germination, a temperature not lower than +5°C is required, although optimal conditions are considered to be in the range of 13-15°C. Modern sugar beet varieties are characterized by a high sugar content reaching 18-20%, which makes it an important raw material for sugar production. At the same time, a lack of light negatively affects the sweetness and yield of plants, so choosing the right location and growing conditions is of great importance. Sugar beet seeds usually have a round or oval shape and a brown color. They consist of an embryo, endosperm, and a protective shell that protects the internal structures from damage. Main quality indicators of seeds include a germination rate of no less than 90%, an energy of germination of over 85%, a 1000-seed weight of within 15–20 grams, and monocotyledonousness. Choosing quality seeds and the right variety is a guarantee of high yield and efficient sugar production. Sugar beet growing technology includes soil preparation, sowing, crop care, and timely harvest collection. Observing all agronomic measures contributes to obtaining the maximum output of product with high sugar content. Thus, sugar beet is a crop that requires careful attention at all stages of growing, from seed selection to harvest.
