Sugar beet Mustang

Focus on High Sugar Content and Phytosanitary Resilience

The «Mustang» sugar beet hybrid from the Danish breeding company DLF is the choice for farms aiming to maximize sugar yield per hectare, especially in regions with high infection pressure. The breeding focus centers on developing a large root that combines a high genetic potential for sugar accumulation, reaching 22-23%.

Field Protection and Yield Security

The primary economic value of this hybrid lies in its ability to withstand a complex of common diseases. Under field conditions, «Mustang» demonstrates distinct resistance to:

• Root rot and damping-off, which is critical during the germination and root development stages.
• Cercospora leaf spot, traditionally the "number one enemy" for yields during the summer season.

This resilience allows agronomists to optimize fungicide spray programs, reducing pesticide load without the risk of crop loss. For agricultural enterprises, this translates into lower costs per hectare while maintaining consistently high raw material quality.

Practical Agronomic Scenarios

This variety shows superior performance in structured soils with deep arable horizons, where its potential for developing large roots is fully realized. Optimal seeding density ensures uniform nutrient distribution, leading to standardized root sizes which simplifies mechanical harvesting and minimizes losses during loading.

The use of «Mustang» is justified in intensive farming systems where crop rotation requires reliable protection against soil-borne pathogens. The high sugar content makes this hybrid a top priority for sugar refineries that value the quality of the incoming harvest.
