Sugar beet FD Judo

Maximizing Sugar Yield with FD Judo

The «FD Judo» sugar beet hybrid, developed by the French breeding company Florimond-Desprez Veuve et Fils, is engineered for farmers prioritizing maximum sugar output per hectare. As a diploid hybrid classified as a high-sugar (ZZ) type, it serves as a critical asset for producers looking to optimize their processing efficiency and bottom-line profitability.

Field Performance and Operational Benefits

The hallmark of «FD Judo» is its genetically driven sugar concentration, ranging between 22-23%. Unlike yield-oriented hybrids, this variety is optimized for dry matter accumulation. Its oval-conical root shape and medium size are particularly advantageous for mechanized harvesting: the roots are easy to extract, and the smooth skin profile ensures minimal soil adhesion, significantly reducing the load on harvester cleaning systems.

• Logistical Advantage: High sugar content allows farmers to transport less tonnage to achieve the same amount of refined sugar, offering substantial savings in shipping costs to the processing plant.
• Technological Consistency: The diploid nature of this hybrid ensures uniform development across the field, allowing for predictable crop stands and streamlined management practices.
• Proven Genetics: Backed by Florimond-Desprez’s long-standing expertise, «FD Judo» demonstrates robust adaptability to varied soil and climatic conditions, providing the stability required for intensive farming operations.

Practical application of «FD Judo» shows that the hybrid performs best under high-management agricultural regimes. By maintaining optimal sowing windows and providing adequate protection during the growth cycle, growers can maximize the plant's capacity for sugar accumulation. For operations where quality and sugar extraction rates are paramount, «FD Judo» is a reliable and proven choice.
