Sugar beet BTS SMART 5620

Genetic Foundation of Yield: BTS SMART 5620

The BTS SMART 5620 hybrid from the American breeding company Betaseed is a high-tech solution for intensive sugar beet cultivation. Its productivity is built upon a triploid ploidy level, ensuring high biological plasticity and crop uniformity, which is critical for maintaining optimal plant density for mechanized harvesting.

Agrotechnical Profile and Resistance

This hybrid belongs to the Normal Sugar (NZ) type, making it an optimal choice for producers aiming for a balance between root tonnage and sugar yield per hectare. A key feature of BTS SMART 5620 is its comprehensive genetic resistance to pathogens that limit yield in high-pressure disease environments:

• Root Rots: High resistance to Fusarium and Aphanomyces root rots minimizes losses during the root development stage.
• Foliage Health: Betaseed's breeding program focuses on robust protection against Cercospora leaf spot and powdery mildew, ensuring the retention of photosynthetic activity until the end of the growing season.
• Soil-borne Pathogens: The hybrid's genetic foundation effectively combats common scab, ensuring high-quality raw materials and excellent marketability.

Incorporating BTS SMART 5620 into crop rotations allows for a reduction in pesticide reliance due to its inherent immunity. The triploid structure of the hybrid promotes high germination energy and vigorous root system development from the start, which is particularly beneficial when sowing under challenging soil and climatic conditions.
