Spinach Yukon

The Dutch standard for the fresh market

The Yukon spinach variety, developed by the breeding house Enza Limited, represents a premium choice for professional agricultural enterprises focused on high-quality vegetable production. Hailing from the Netherlands, this variety has established a strong reputation in the professional sector due to its yield stability and the superior marketability of its foliage.

Key advantages

A primary focus during the development of this variety was the protection of the harvest against common pathogens. The robust resistance to spinach downy mildew (peronospora) allows farmers to significantly reduce expenditure on fungicide applications, which favorably impacts both the sustainability of the final product and overall production costs. In field conditions, Yukon demonstrates rapid growth, making it an excellent solution for succession planting throughout the season.

Visual characteristics and application

The hallmark of Yukon is its deep, saturated dark-green leaf color. Beyond its visual appeal, the leaf possesses a firm texture, which is critical for mechanical harvesting and subsequent transport to retail chains. The variety performs equally well in both open-field cultivation and protected cropping systems, consistently forming a rosette structure that is optimized for easy packaging.

For the modern agronomist, Yukon is a predictable and reliable tool. The variety's high adaptability allows it to perform consistently across various climatic zones while maintaining the resistance and color characteristics specified by the manufacturer. It is ideally suited for fresh produce markets, where visual quality and shelf life are the decisive factors in supplier selection.
