Description SOER 7
SOYBEAN variety SOER 7 is a mid-early semi-determinate variety of the northern ecotype, developed at the Yershovskaya experimental station of irrigated agriculture of the Southern-Eastern Branch of the Southern Scientific Center of Agriculture. The plant is of medium height, with a semi-closed form and determinate growth type, features a strong, non-lodging stem and gray pubescence. Flowers are white or purple, pods are light brown, seeds are yellow with yellow or brown hilum. The mass of 1000 seeds ranges from 126 to 160 grams. The vegetative period is 95-110 days, which provides earliness and allows the variety to be successfully grown in the Volga region and Southern Urals, as well as in the Central-Black Earth and Middle-Volga regions.

SOER 7 variety is characterized by high technicity and adaptability to various growing conditions. It is resistant to lodging and drought, has the ability to compensate for sparse sowing through increased individual plant productivity. Pods do not crack when left on the stalk, and seeds hardly shatter, which reduces losses during harvesting and post-harvest processing. A gentle mode is recommended for threshing and post-harvest processing due to the less durable seed coat, and harvesting should be conducted at seed moisture not lower than 13%. The sowing rate is 600-700 thousand seeds per hectare for row sowing and 500-600 thousand for wide-row sowing.

The commercial value of the variety lies in stable grain production with high seed filling quality and attractive appearance of the crop. Protein content in grain reaches 36.7-42.8%, fat – 18.1-21.5%. Average yield in the region is about 10.1 c/ha, with maximum indicators up to 23.1 c/ha. Thanks to the combination of earliness, technicity, and adaptability, SOER 7 successfully competes with main standards and is a promising variety for cultivation in irrigated crop rotations of the Volga region and Southern Urals.
