The sorghum hybrid «Alga» is a medium-early variety intended for growing green mass, silage, and green feed. The plants are characterized by an upright bush form and a height ranging from 110 to 270 cm depending on growing conditions. The ears have an oval shape, and the sugar content in the stem juice reaches 13–15%, which contributes to the high nutritional value of the feed.
The vegetation period lasts from 115 to 120 days, allowing the hybrid to successfully adapt to various climatic conditions. «Alga» is distinguished by high resistance to lodging, drought, and diseases, ensuring yield stability even in complex agro-climatic zones. The tannin content in the grain is less than 0.1%, which positively affects the quality of the feed product.
The hybrid yield varies depending on the region: in the North Caucasian region, the average dry matter yield is about 79.9 c/ha, and seeds — 22.3 c/ha. In the Far Eastern region, the hybrid demonstrates a high yield increase of up to 12%, reaching an average green mass yield of 213 c/ha and dry matter of 79.9 c/ha.
