Sorghum SLAVYANSKOYE POLE 600

Operational insights for "Slavyanskoye Pole 600"

For growers focusing on grain sorghum, the goal is always consistent performance in the field and at the scales. The "Slavyanskoye Pole 600" variety, developed by the Slavyanskoye Pole Research Institute, represents a reliable choice for those prioritizing crop stability. With a plant height of 180–200 cm, the crop maintains structural integrity, minimizing lodging risks and ensuring a clean, efficient harvest with minimal mechanical losses.

Field health and management

Disease management is often the most significant operational expense in sorghum production. This variety offers a strong genetic defense against bacterial spotting, allowing for a simplified fungicide schedule. Its robust resistance to mycosphaerella leaf spot and brown spot ensures that the photosynthetic canopy remains functional throughout the grain-filling stage, maximizing yield potential without the need for constant chemical intervention.

Economic value of the grain

The 120–130 day maturity window allows for precise scheduling of harvesting machinery. The dark brown grain is particularly valued for its high starch content (70–80%), making it a prime commodity for both the feed industry and starch processing plants. A consistent, high-quality output ensures that the crop meets trade specifications, leading to better price realization per ton.

• Optimized growth cycle for efficient labor management.
• Excellent standability reduces fuel consumption and wear during harvesting.
• High starch accumulation significantly boosts the commercial value of the grain.
