Cortesa sunflower is a high-yielding hybrid of Ukrainian selection, created by interline hybridization using the cytoplasmic male sterility (CMS) system with full pollen fertility restoration. This hybrid is intended for conventional cultivation and has a medium-early maturity period — the vegetation period is 105-112 days. Plant height reaches 160-180 cm, ensuring good resistance to lodging and promoting high yield.
Cortesa has a high yield potential up to 50 centners per hectare and high oil content in seeds — from 50% to 53%. The oil belongs to the linoleic type, making it in demand for producing high-quality sunflower oil. The hybrid is characterized by high drought resistance, enabling successful cultivation under insufficient moisture conditions, as well as genetic resistance to 7 most virulent races of downy mildew (A-G) and race 730 of false powdery mildew, significantly reducing the risk of yield losses due to diseases.
Cortesa sunflower seeds are packaged in bags of 150,000 seeds (8-9 kg), which is convenient for sowing and ensures even distribution of seed material. Thanks to its combination of high yield, disease and drought resistance, as well as high oil content, this hybrid is an excellent choice for farmers focused on producing high-quality sunflower oil with high economic efficiency.
