Description LO 55 P
LO 55 P is a spring rye, representing a form of cultivated rye that is sown in the spring and harvested at the end of summer or the beginning of autumn. Rye is characterized by high aggressiveness, capable of suppressing most weeds, which makes it an effective phytosanitizer and cover crop. The plant has a tufted root system that penetrates the soil to a depth of 1-2 meters, ensuring high nutrient uptake and allowing it to grow in difficult soils. The plant intensively tillers, with many shoots growing from a single grain, especially with good care.

Rye possesses high frost resistance and resistance to diseases and pests, as well as lodging, which makes it more hardy and less demanding compared to wheat. As a cover crop, rye improves soil structure and condition, suppresses perennial weeds and pathogenic soil pests. Upon decomposition, rye biomass enriches the soil not only with nitrogen but also with potassium, while the contained microorganisms facilitate phosphorus uptake, ensuring proper nutrition for subsequent crops. However, it should be noted that rye stems have a strong structure and decompose slowly, which may complicate plowing.

The LO 55 P hybrid belongs to medium-maturing varieties with a vegetation period of about 299-346 days. The plant is of medium height with a semi-erect and dense head, and medium grain size. The variety has medium winter hardiness and drought resistance corresponding to standards. Lodging resistance is at the level of the Moskovskaya 12 variety, and susceptibility to brown rust is moderate. Average yield in growing regions is about 38.7 centners per hectare, and baking qualities are considered satisfactory.
