Description

Flamenco strawberry is a remontant variety developed in 2002 at the East Malling Station in Britain. The bushes of this variety are compact, low-growing, but robust and sturdy, with a large number of runners. The leaves are large, dark green, and glossy, giving the plant an attractive appearance. Flamenco is characterized by high yield — up to 1.5 kg per bush — and the ability to fruit multiple times during the season, starting in June and continuing until October, which is especially suitable for the climatic conditions of Ukraine.

The berries of Flamenco strawberries have a proper conical shape, deep red or orange-red color with a glossy sheen. The weight of the fruits varies from 25 to 80 grams, depending on growing conditions. The flesh is medium-dense, very juicy, sweet, and aromatic, making the berries delicious both fresh and suitable for freezing or making jams. The berries detach cleanly due to a soft stem, facilitating harvest and preserving fruit quality.

The variety exhibits high resistance to various diseases, including bacterial burns, as well as high cold tolerance. To achieve maximum yield, Flamenco should be grown on light soils, on sunny southern plots with abundant watering during fruiting. Using polyethylene tunnels can extend the harvest season until October, maintaining high fruit quality and attractive appearance.
