The Borovitskaya strawberry variety is a mid-late maturing variety of domestic selection, developed by the All-Russian Research Institute of Horticulture and Nursery Plants. The plant is powerful, upright, up to 30 cm high, with large leathery leaves of intense green color. The flowers are perfect, large and uncurling, which contributes to good pollination and crop formation. Bushes are compact and vigorous, which facilitates care and planting.
Borovitskaya variety berries are large, of correct blunt-conical shape, without a neck, with bright red skin, sometimes with an orange tint, which becomes dark red at full maturity. The average fruit weight is about 15-20 grams, while individual berries can reach up to 40 grams. The flesh is light red, dense, juicy and sugary with a pleasant sweet-and-sour dessert taste and a subtle fruity-fruit aroma. The fruits are versatile in use, remain dry and attractive after harvest, and have good transportability.
The variety is distinguished by high yield and versatility of cultivation, suitable for both open ground and greenhouses. It is drought resistant and winter hardy, has high resistance to fungal diseases and strawberry mite, but is medium resistant to gray mold. In terms of agrotechnology, the variety is undemanding, requires planting in fertilized soil according to the 30x70 cm scheme, regular watering, fertilization, soil loosening, and preventive treatments against pests and diseases.
