Sapphire

Sapphire raspberry is a late summer variety developed by British breeders in 2021. The plants are semi-erect, with numerous canes and moderate numbers of medium-length thorns, facilitating easier care. The berries are red, conical, firm, with large individual drupelets. The average fruit weight is about 8 grams, making them sufficiently large and attractive to consumers.

The variety is characterized by high yield — approximately 1.6 kg per plant and up to 27 tons per hectare. Berries ripen in July and August, extending the harvest season. Sapphire raspberry has high cold tolerance (climate zone 5), ensuring plant survival at temperatures down to –29 degrees Celsius. Additionally, the variety is resistant to diseases such as anthracnose and pests, particularly raspberry weevil, contributing to stable and high-quality harvests.

For successful cultivation of Sapphire raspberry, regular watering is required, especially during fruit ripening. The variety exhibits good fruit transportability, making it attractive for commercial cultivation and sales. Due to its sweet flavor with a slight tartness, the berries are ideal for fresh consumption, as well as for making desserts and jams.
