LAZAREVSKAYA

The Lazarevskaya raspberry is an early summer variety bred at the All-Russian Horticulture and Seedling Breeding Institute. The bushes are medium-sized, reaching heights of 1.5-1.8 meters, with dense branches covered in thin, sharp spines of light color with black edging. One-year-old shoots have a waxy coating and a light-brown color, which turns reddish by autumn. Shoot-forming ability is average, allowing control of bush growth without extra hassle.

The fruit of the Lazarevskaya variety is medium-sized, weighing 2.5-3 grams, with a pointed shape and a light-red saturated color. The berries are juicy and very sweet with a pronounced raspberry aroma. Taste qualities are highly rated, making this variety popular among gardeners for fresh consumption, as well as for making jam, jellies, and liqueurs. The yield is up to 80 kg per hundred square meters or 2-4 kg per bush.

The variety is characterized by high frost resistance down to -30°C and good disease resistance. For successful cultivation, it is recommended to plant seedlings in spring or early autumn on sunny plots with light, slightly acidic soil, ensuring a distance between plants of 70-100 cm and adding compost or manure to the soil. An important element of care is regular pruning: damaged by frost shoots are removed in spring, and thinning of bushes is carried out in autumn. Despite low transportability and a limited shelf life of the berries (7-10 days in the refrigerator), the Lazarevskaya variety is excellent for personal farms and summer cottages.
