Description Russian Yellow
Medium-ripening variety, obtained at the VNIIS named after I.V. Michurin by clonal selection method. Bud variation of the variety Russian (Kareless x Hautton + Oregon + Curry + Standard). Author K.D. Sergeeva. Since 1974, it has been included in the State Register of Selection Achievements approved for use in the Northwest and Ural regions.

Medium-height, medium-spreading bush with medium-density crown and weak branching. Growing shoots are thick, light-green, with hanging pink tips, glabrous. Woody shoots are medium-thick, light-colored. Thorns on shoots are moderate, mostly single, medium-length and thickness, straight, light-colored, directed perpendicularly to the shoot or obliquely upward, located in the lower part. Buds are elongated, small, with blunt tips, brown, glabrous, deviated. Leaf scar is round.

Leaf medium-sized, bright green, slightly glossy, glabrous, with wrinkled surface, leathery, flat or slightly concave. Teeth are medium-sized, blunt, slightly curved. Main vein coloration absent. Leaf five-lobed, lobes with medium indentations, central lobe slightly exceeding lateral ones. Lateral lobes are medium-sized, pointed, with blunt tips directed upward, angle between lateral lobe veins is acute. Basal lobes are weakly developed, veins are spreading. Leaf base is straight or slightly notched, angle between leaf blade base and petiole is straight or obtuse. Petiole is medium-length and thickness, with very sparse glandular hairs at lower part, positioned at 45° angle to the shoot.

Flowers are medium-sized, pale. Sepals are pale, sometimes with slight anthocyanic coloration at base and edges, medium-sized, free, slightly curved upward. Inflorescence is single- or two-flowered. Ovule is bare, oval, without ridges.

Berries are large (4.2-5.8 g), oval or inverted egg-shaped, yellow, glabrous, with waxy coating. Moderate seed quantity. Skin is medium-thick, with strong vein pattern, veins slightly branched, lighter than fruit color. Taste is sour-sweet (4.0 points). Receptacle is full, large, closed. Berry stem is short and medium-length, thin, light-green, glabrous. Chemical composition: total sugars — 9.3%, titratable acidity — 2.1%, ascorbic acid — 12.0-32.0 mg/100 g. Berries are of universal use.

The variety is highly winter-hardy, drought-resistant, average yield is 13.8 t/ha (4.1 kg/plant), characterized by good self-fertility and resistance to American powdery mildew.

Advantages of the variety: yellow-fruiting clone, high winter hardiness, productivity and consumer quality of berries.

Disadvantages of the variety: spreading bush in early stages.
