The 'Bell' raspberry variety was bred in the Altai Krai, specifically at the Research Institute for Plant Breeding of Baranov. This variety was developed by selecting seedlings from the free pollination of the 'Carnival' variety. It is intended for regions with prolonged cold periods and is characterized by high frost resistance and drought tolerance. The bushes are of medium height, reaching 1.5-2.0 meters, with upright, elastic gray canes that have a weak waxy coating and single dark purple thorns. The leaves are large, light green, wrinkled, and slightly twisted, which gives the plant additional resistance to unfavorable conditions.
The 'Bell' raspberry berries are large, weighing from 2.9 to 4.7 grams, bright red with a light fuzz. They are juicy, sweet-and-sour, with a pronounced raspberry aroma and pleasant taste. The fruits do not shed when ripening, which facilitates harvest collection and contributes to good berry preservation during transportation. The high yield of the variety reaches up to 12.7 tons per hectare, making it attractive for cultivation both in private gardens and for commercial purposes.
The 'Bell' variety is distinguished by its resistance to diseases and pests, which reduces the need for intensive chemical treatment. The berries are suitable for fresh consumption as well as for processing: canning, making jams, compotes, and other products. Due to its hardiness and good gastronomic qualities, 'Bell' raspberry is widely distributed in the Altai Krai and other regions with similar climatic conditions.
