The raspberry cultivar "Samokhval" is a promising remontant variety of Russian selection, created by crossing the Carameyka and Nizhegorodets varieties. The berries of this cultivar are large, weighing 8 to 10 grams, and have a sweet taste rated 4.5 points. The bushes are upright and sturdy, reaching heights from 1.3 to 1.5 meters, sometimes even taller. Thanks to its powerful root system, the plant can grow beyond the row, which contributes to high yield. The first harvest can be obtained in the year of planting, with up to 6-8 kg of fruit collected from one bush.
The "Samokhval" cultivar is distinguished by high transportability, disease resistance, and frost hardiness, making it universal and reliable for cultivation in various climatic conditions. Raspberry stems are straight, upper parts drooping, with medium to thick thickness and a base diameter of up to two centimeters. Canes have a large number of thorns at the base, which are of medium density and slightly curved downwards. Leaves are oval in shape with a pointed tip, rich green on top and slightly whitish with a corrugated structure underneath.
The berry ripening period depends on the region: in southern areas, fruits ripen in the second half of August, in others — from late August to early September. The cultivar is characterized by simultaneous ripening of a large number of berries — up to 25 on a bush, which facilitates harvest collection. Blooming is abundant and accompanied by a pronounced aroma. To obtain maximum yield, proper care is required, taking into account the strong growth and spread of the plant.
